After the Ride: 2019 California RV Show Recap

The 2019 California RV show brought a record-breaking 45,112 RV enthusiasts together for sun, fun and unparalleled RV shopping. Attendees enjoyed the beautiful Southern California weather — with temperatures ranging from 74-90 degrees each day with some occasional wind — while they explored the largest collection of RVs on the West Coast, learned from RV lifestyle experts, exchanged travel stories, and planned adventures with their families and friends. Hear what a few of them had to say about the show right here!

The location
The California RV Show moved to a new location this year — the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. First-time attendees and California RV Show veterans noted the accessibility of the new location and how easy it was for them to find what they were looking for as some of their favorite things about the show.

“I like the nice straight layout from front to back … it’s easier to find people, easier to see the different rigs and travel trailers.”

“There seems to be a lot of space, it’s well set out. You can find everything pretty easily and there’s free parking and seems to be plenty of it.”

“All the RV manufacturers are in one location and we haven’t walked our legs off yet because they’ve got little shuttled carts running around, bottled water everywhere.”

“I love it. I love the big bathrooms and the free parking and the friendly people.”

“It’s fun, by the race track and hearing the cars go around and everything.”

The atmosphere
Part of what makes the California RV Show such a unique, special event is the community feel. Attendees hail from all over the Golden State and the country, and they also span a wide range of ages, from small children sharing their opinions on potential family vehicles with their parents to retirees looking to live life on the open road. Seasoned pros, newbies, RV celebrities and dealers come together to share their lessons learned, tips and stories, creating an unmistakably friendly and fun atmosphere.

“We’ve talked to several couples in our age group. We’re exchanging ideas, thoughts about the coaches and the motor homes. So, yeah it’s very friendly. Good atmosphere out here. Kid-friendly too.”

“I’d described the atmosphere as very friendly, especially towards dogs!”

“The energy of the show is great. I mean, the weather’s fantastic. We’re here in beautiful sunny California. Days are perfect.”

The special features
When they weren’t exploring the more than 1,000 RVs at the show, attendees took time to learn something new, shop for innovative RV accessories and kick back. RV experts and influencers led seminars each day, with topics ranging from how to shop for an RV to going off the grid with solar. Celebrities — including basketball and NASCAR stars — signed autographs for fans. Vendors showcased their products in the Exhibitor tent. And the Hub, a new feature this year, was a big hit. The Hub was filled with food vendors, carnival rides, live entertainment and musicians, and attendees loved taking a break to enjoy some family-friendly fun there.

“There’s music. There’s entertainment. There’s food, and yeah, there is a lot to do.”

“I’m actually a huge 80s Lakers guy. My teen years are from the 80s. So, that was a pleasure meeting James Worthy.”

“Good vendors, very good information … The food trucks were very good as well.”

“A great day to be outside checking out RVs and stepping inside if you want to get out of the sun for a while in the vendor tent. That’s been awesome. People [are] having fun.”
